The Ants in a Crack in the Sidewalk
by David Elliot Eisenstat
Mouthing tiny stones,
they spoke into existence
a new home.
Sap-sucking insects distilled
honeydew for the housewarming;
the wind gifted a seedling.
Gazing in,
uninvited,
I step over.
